About
Turung Chora is a quiet mountain stream near Turung village in North Ronikhai Union, Companiganj Upazila, Sylhet. Fed by water descending from the Meghalaya hills across the nearby India–Bangladesh border, the area is known for clear flowing water, colourful stones, green hills and a relatively secluded natural setting. The stream takes its name from Turung village itself. The landscape is at its most vibrant during the monsoon, when rainfall increases the flow, although wet rocks and stronger currents require extra caution. Visitors generally reach the area via Dayar Bazar and Chorar Bazar, followed by a walk along rural paths. Turung Chora is particularly suitable for nature sightseeing, photography and a short day-trip adventure. Because it lies close to the international border and in a remote area, visitors should remain on the Bangladesh side and plan their visit during daylight hours.

Access notes: Turung Chora is located near Turung village in North Ronikhai Union, Companiganj, close to the Bangladesh–India border. Official upazila information places Companiganj headquarters about 30 km by road from Sylhet district headquarters; visitors then continue towards Dayar Bazar and Chorar Bazar before completing the final section on foot. A boat is not normally required on the main route. The walking section from the Utma Chora/Chorar Bazar side is roughly 2 km. During the monsoon, rural paths can become muddy, rocks slippery and water levels stronger. Visitors must remain on the Bangladesh side of the border and follow instructions from local or border authorities. The final trail may be challenging for very young children, elderly visitors and people with limited mobility, so daylight travel is recommended.
